The basement is so damp that it can't possibly offer any relief from the heat -
not to mention the musty odor we try so hard to ignore. Then winter comes,
painting our landscape with icicles and freshly fallen snow. But we can't
enjoy any of this scenery. Our windows are fogged up, sweaty and icy.
We can't see outside. And the towels are frozen to the window.
Our oil/electrical bill is sky-high too. After all, it takes more energy to
heat up damp air than it does dry. Let's not forget the money we have to shell
out for the new window frames and sills. And the de-humidifier (if we have one)...
It's so difficult and awkward to empty those heavy buckets of water that we seldom
bother, and when we do use the de-humidifier, we end up paying $20 to $30 dollars more
a month on our electric bill! If only there were an easier way to rid our home of the
damaging and uncomfortable humidity.
